Candle Safety & Tips

Enjoy Your Swann Sense Candle Safely and Effectively

To get the most enjoyment out of your Swann Sense candle while ensuring your safety, please note the following:

Before You Burn: For the first burn, trim your wick to ¼”. While we ship your candle already trimmed, it’s a good idea to double-check, as shipping and temperature changes can affect the wick height. We recommend burning your candle for 4 hours during the first use.

When you first light your candle, allow the wax to melt all the way to the outer edges of the glass jar. Creating a full melt pool helps achieve an even burn (no tunneling) and maximizes fragrance throw. If you notice some wax around the edges that hasn’t fully melted after the first burn, it will eventually melt during the second or third burn.

CANDLE PLACEMENT

  • Always burn candles on a level, heat-resistant surface.
  • Never leave a lit candle unattended.
  • Avoid burning candles while sleeping.
  • Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
  • Position candles away from drafts, such as fans, vents, doorways, or windows.

LONGEVITY

  • Keep the wick trimmed to about ¼ inch between burns. A longer wick can create a larger flame, leading to overheating, while a wick trimmed too short may become buried in the wax.
  • For your first burn, ensure the wick is trimmed to ¼ inch. While we ship your candle ready to go, shipping and temperature changes may affect wick height.
  • If your candle’s flame flickers wildly or burns unevenly, extinguish it, let it cool for a few hours, and trim the wick before relighting.
  • Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

KEEP IT SAFE

  • Discard or recycle the candle jar when there is ¼ inch of wax left.
  • Avoid adding dried flowers or debris to the candle, as these can catch fire.
  • Do not use room sprays or flammable aerosols near an open flame.
  • Never move or touch the candle jar when the wax is liquid.
  • Never extinguish a candle with water.

Thank you for choosing Swann Sense. Enjoy your candle!
